“Fuel efficiency 20.9km/L” Specifications of Toyota’s new Prius revealed
Toyota Korea began pre-orders for the new Prius on Monday the 13th, and some specifications were revealed. The new Prius, scheduled to be released in Korea, is a 5th generation model and will be released in two models: a hybrid (HEV) model and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model.
According to Toyota dealers, the new Prius hybrid model will be released in two trims, LE and XLE, and the plug-in hybrid model will be released in a single trim. For the hybrid model, the interior color is black or gray, and the plug-in hybrid model has black/red colored seats.
The new Prius hybrid model is equipped with a hybrid system based on a 2-liter gasoline engine. The engine horsepower reaches a maximum output of 152 horsepower, and the combined maximum output of the system combined with the electric motor reaches 196 horsepower. It demonstrates a more refreshing driving performance than the existing model, and the certified combined fuel efficiency is also excellent at 20.9km/L.
The plug-in hybrid delivers powerful performance with a total system output of 223 horsepower. In addition, it is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 13.6 kWh, which is about 1.5 times more than the existing model, so it can drive about 64 km in pure electric mode on a single charge.
The new Prius inherited the design of the previous generation Prius, but was reborn as a smooth and elegant silhouette by minimizing unnecessary character lines. In addition, based on the 2nd generation TNGA platform, it demonstrates excellent driving performance through a low center of gravity, lightness, and body rigidity.
The interior features a central 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 7-inch multi-information cluster. In addition, a variety of safety features are installed, including Toyota Safety Sense, Toyota's driving safety technology.
